Coloma Convent Girls’ Sixth Form
Deciding which school to choose for your crucial final years of secondary education can be a daunting task. We recognise that this decision cannot be taken lightly and that you will need to give careful thought and consideration to it. Our aim is to help you with this decision by giving you as much information as possible about Sixth form life at Coloma so that you are as well informed as possible.
In the Autumn term we hold two Sixth Form Open Events where we are pleased to welcome families to tour our extensive grounds and facilities. This is a chance to hear about our ethos, vision and outstanding educational provision. This has been recognised by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) in their most recent inspection report where they commented “Coloma Convent Girls’ School is an outstanding school with an outstanding Sixth Form. The bedrock of passionate care, support and guidance for students, coupled with high expectations and aspirations, lead to outstanding outcomes for students. In this school community strong Catholic values permeate the work of the school and students thrive and enjoy learning”.

6th form head girl, her duties and house captains
At Coloma, all students are strongly encouraged to become actively involved in the wider life of the school. We believe it is important for all girls to have the opportunity to participate beyond their academic studies and we highly value voluntary service to the school community.
There are a range of opportunities to facilitate this, the majority being led by the Sixth form through the Head Girl, her Deputies, House Captains, Prefects and Form Captains.
The School Council is managed by Sixth Form school officials and is led by the Head Girl and her deputies. Other regular attendees are the Games Captain and her Deputy, the House Captains and the Chairwomen of the many committees who are actively involved in various aspects of school life. These posts are open to all Sixth Form students. Post holders are elected by students and staff and are appointed by the Headteacher. All students are strongly encouraged to become involved in leading younger pupils through the prefect system, the buddy scheme and the numerous clubs and activities which are organised and led by the Sixth Form. In addition, the senior school officials together with many other students are actively involved in the organisation and running of Coloma Parents’ association events.
6th form Tutorial and Pastoral Support
In the Sixth Form we aim to provide a framework for the rounded development of the individual and welcome girls who at 16 wish to join Coloma for this important stage in their preparation for adult life.
We recognise that an important part of our role is to ensure students have in place a strong and supportive pastoral environment which will enable them to remain motivated and able to take personal responsibility.
At Coloma, care in the Sixth Form is shared between a team of 14 experienced Sixth Form Tutors and a leadership team of the Deputy Headteacher/Head of Sixth Form and two Assistant Head of Sixth Forms. The Tutors meet daily as a group and share a prayerful thought for the day. Regular tutorials enable students and tutors to discuss issues of individual concern and to monitor progress.
All students attend, and contribute to, year group assemblies and whole school assemblies.
